Open from 01-May to 30-September
The campsite is 900m from the train station where you can take the very picturesque ‘Trinnichellu’, the little train which links Bastia with Ajaccio, to spend the day discovering Vizzavona and its English Waterfall. Four hundred metres away on the same road you can find all the necessary facilities; supermarket, local products, fruit and vegetables, butcher and cooked meats, cigarettes, newspapers, bread, pastries and the hospital. Ten minutes away by foot, there is the down town with its shopping street, the Cours Paoli and the Old Town, the Citadelle and the Corsican Museum.
The campsite is situated on the border of the Restonica which is one of the two rivers feeding Corte and which flows from the valley of the same name, which is one of the 22 great protected nature reserves of France. The absence of traffic, apart from that on the campsite, makes it particularly quiet. Access by vehicles is prohibited after 9 p.m.
The majority of our customers are there for the hiking and go to bed early in order to leave early in the morning, before it gets too hot.
In high summer, the coolness of the centuries-old olive trees make the nights very pleasant compared with sites by the sea. Although situated by a river, there are few mosquitoes unlike in other regions. The five natural pools, accessible directly from the campsite, are much sought after bathing areas for hikers returning from their walks and for children, who can splash about in the water under the watchful eye of their parents. The washing facilities include showers, individual wash basin cubicles and sinks with constant hot water; the WCs are provided with toilet paper.
A washing machine and a tumble dryer are available free of charge to campers. An area is provided for customers arriving in camper vans so they can dispose of their waste water and refill with drinking water.
